The Am Rhyn House, a patrician residence from the early 17th century, is located directly on the River Reuss in the heart of Lucerne’s Old Town. Originally built as the home of an influential family, it now serves as a publicly accessible venue for events and administrative purposes. As part of a recent renovation,Co. Architekten AG integrated an elevator that provides barrier-free access to the upper floors. With great sensitivity to the historical context and architectural care, the planning team succeeded in embedding modern functionality into the existing structure. The fully glazed elevator cabin was installed in a space-efficient manner and, thanks to its transparent design, blends discreetly and harmoniously into the listed building.
